This kind of page is usually written to cover somebody. This one is written so you can tell what the site is doing, because a promise about privacy is worth nothing if the code says otherwise.

Nothing here is watching

No counter. There is no analytics tool on this site. Your visit is not timed, not recorded, and not reported to any measuring company.

No adverts. No ad slots, no ad network, no paid panels, and nothing that trails after you onto the next website you open.

No cookies at all. Not one gets set. You will notice there is no pop up asking your permission, and that is why. There would be nothing to ask about.

Nowhere to type. Look around. No comment thread, no quiz, no signup, no login, no account, not even a search box. This site has no fields in it at all.

Nothing pulled in from elsewhere. No hosted fonts, no video player, no share buttons, no chat bubble, no tag manager.

What your browser picks up from this site is a page of text and one stylesheet. That is the lot.

What the host writes down anyway

These pages live on a hosting company's server, and servers keep a request log. Every one of them does.

That log holds the address a request came from, a time, which file was wanted, and the line your browser sends describing itself.

This site did not choose that. It is what handing over a file involves. Nothing is bolted on to it. No analytics tool reads that log, it is never joined up with anything else, and nobody is building a picture of you out of it.

The tag on the book link, in full

Here is the one bit of measurement that will ever exist here, described before it turns up.

The same person writes five websites. Each one mentions a book from time to time. As things stand there is no way to know which site, if any, sends anybody to a listing.

Amazon has a fix for that. You add a short code onto the end of the link. Amazon calls it an attribution tag. It answers one question and no others: which of the five sites the click began on.

Three things it is not.

It is not an affiliate link. Nothing is earned from it. There is no affiliate account behind any of this, so no click from here can pay a commission to anyone.

It knows nothing about you. No name, no account, no guess at who you are. The code names a website. That is the whole content of it.

It leaves nothing behind on your phone or laptop. This site sets no cookie, and the tag does not set one either.

And it is not live here yet. Today the book link on this site is a bare address with nothing stuck on the end. This page says so ahead of time rather than afterwards, which is rather the point of writing it down.

Why that got a section to itself

Because the opposite happens all the time, and it is easy to miss.

A website says it tracks nobody. Then a link on it quietly carries a tag. That is not a small technical detail. It is a lie in a calm voice, and it is precisely the sort of thing this site would deserve to be caught doing.

So it is set out above in full instead. Nothing else changes. Still no counter, still no cookie, still nothing loaded in from anywhere else.

Every other link that leads away

Most links here go to a state law, a government office, or a company's own terms.

Follow one and you are somewhere else, under whatever rules that place runs by. Nothing written on this page applies over there.

About readers who are under 18

Almost everybody reading this site is under 18. That is the point of it, and it is unusual enough to state here rather than leave you guessing.

It makes no difference to any of the above, for a plain reason. Nothing is gathered from anyone at any age. You cannot make an account here, there is nothing to send in, and reading a page cannot identify you.

Keeping this honest

If anything in the build changes, this text gets rewritten that day and the date above moves.

A page like this one that has drifted from the site it describes is not merely old. It is untrue. If any of it reads oddly to you, say so.
